Sorry I haven't been writing... I literally just figured out how this works. For a while I didn't know I was invited, didn't know how to log on, and simply didn't know what this even was. Sooo unlike Dyllie I lack the ability to ever be tech savvy.
ANYWAYS this summer has been consumed almost entirely by my internship. For those who don't know I'm a "Financial Representative Intern" for Northwestern Mutual. I can actually call myself a Financial Rep because I do all of the same things they do. Back in May I studied for 3 days straight right after finals and got my license to sell insurance in CT. That's the basic goal- sell insurance to anyone and everyone. I could tell you more about life and disability insurance than you have time for (or the desire to hear about). I've actually become quite annoying to all my (biological) family members.
I've had a few sales and have lots lining up so in general it's been a positive experience (minus the fact that the industry is 90% rejection). Of course there are the negatives of people constantly avoiding me, being hung up on, and being told to piss off. Ahh the life of a salesman.
One thing that is crazy about this internship is how people open up to you. When I sit down with someone to do an analysis they basically just spill their financial situation to me. And holy crap. I've had people who I thought were so on top of things tell me they're $25,000 in debt. On the flip-side some people who I pegged to be disasters actually had a lot of stuff already figured out. Never assume is the basic lesson there.
Okay this post is pathetic and sorry if I put you to sleep. Glad to be on the blog and reading about your cool summers. I still have a lot of your posts to catch up on so I'll be doing that for a while.
Have fun, be safe, and if ever asked the question "shawty wanna fuck?" you simply reply "no thank you" and walk away.

FACT: Learning you now have a license to sell insurance was the coolest thing I heard today
